The exhibition space allows the community, local and global artist to share their stories through photography.
As you walk into the exhibition space the displays create a maze within itself allowing a place for people to lose themselves as they look at each artwork.

The result is an environment that disorientates the user by using reflections and creates a natural pathway leading into the back of the exhibition space. There is also a floor to ceiling screen that can display 3D photography and art where old equipment on the site once was.

The second part of the exhibition uses a ceramic material to create a tunnel form to create a journey for the user. All original openings in the wall are replaced with mirrors that have been custom fitted with lights wrapped around the edge as well to link back to the site.

The custom displays that combine acrylic with metal frames emphasize the subject with the screens that seem to be floating which display the photos.

PROCESS WORK

My original ideas for the exhibition space was to have a large insertion into the space. Disrupting the site and creating a point of interest in the space. However the large form seemed to take away from the site block the sight line of the ceiling and the rest of the site.

The forms were inspired from different exhibitions such as the Guggenheim and also The Vessel which showcases a large staircase used as different floors.
This idea of multi-floors would then lead into my staircase design.

The original displays did not incorporate the acrylic material making the space seem too open and did not create a natural pathway for users.
Instead creating customized displays allowed for the space to feel more full and would give users a better sense of direction.
